The Karachi Port handled 167,131 tonnes of cargo comprising 165,352 tonnes of import cargo and 1,779 tonnes of export cargo including 2,565 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 165,352 tonnes comprised of 31,856 tonnes of containerised cargo; 27,172 tonnes of general cargo; 40,817 tonnes of bulk cargo: 32,200 tonnes of coal; 1,300 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 7,317 tonnes of fertilizer and 65,507 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 1,779 tonnes comprised of 1,779 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,565 containers comprising of 2,063 containers import and 502 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 943 of 20's and 555 of 40's loaded while 10 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 33 of 20's and 27 of 40's loaded containers while 57 of 20's and 179 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Seapan Grouse, Express Black Sea, Richmond, MT Lahore, Bright World and Yangize Hapinnes carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Fortunate, KMTC Mumbai, Xpress Black Sea, Mongoose Hunter, MT Karachi, Doric Victory, Positive Brave, Cielo De Palermo and Heilan Brother carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were three ships namely MT Karachi, Positive Brave and Cielo De Palermo carrying oil tanker, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while another ship namely KMTC Mumbai carrying containers is expected to sail on Wednesday.

There were two vessels Kota Nilam and BBC Ocean carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while six vessels viz. Kota Kaya, Aim Ail Wodonga, Bengal Orchid, Alam Manis, African Falcon and Roelof carrying containers, chemical, coal, steel and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 108,185 tonnes comprising 101,839 tonnes of import cargo and 6,346 tonnes of export cargo including 2,677 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 101,839 tonnes includes 36,610 tonnes of diesel oil; 572 tonnes of palm oil; 8,729 tonnes of chemical; 11,411 tonnes of soyabean; 5,200 tonnes of coal and 44,517 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 6,346 tonnes includes 6,346 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,677 containers comprising of 2,343 containers import and 334 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were three ships namely CV MSC Joanna, CV Al Rawdah and MT Ginga Lion carrying containers and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Express Black Sea and MV Fruke carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Joanna, CV Al Rawdah, MV RB Eden, MV Rui Ning-2, MV Frauke, MV Argent Freesia, MT Genie and MT Ginga Lion currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as eighteen ships namely CV Express Black Sea, CV CMA CGM Amazon, MV Good Hope Max, MV MR Arcturus, MV Frontier Leader, MT Umm Bab, MT North Gas, MT Kahyas, MT Globe Tanya, MT Bneinder, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Spruce-2, MT Brizo, MT Harminy-1, MT Bunga Allium, MT CTG Argon, MT Waweasan Jade and MT Maritime Yuan carrying containers, soyabean, condensate oil, coal, project cargo, canola seeds, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six vessels viz. CV Maersk Memphis, CV Express Black Sea, CV CMA CGM Amazon, MT Umm Bab, MT Maritime Yuan and MT Bunga Allium carrying containers, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were eleven ships namely CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Maersk Memphis, CV Priority, CV Teno, CV Hans America, CV Al Rawdah, MV Gas Chem Antartic, MV Industrial Swift, CV Maritime Yuan, MV Global Phonix and MT Lion-M carrying containers, chemical, project cargo, coal and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
